WHERE Anguilla
Summary
Anguilla’s low-lying scrub and dry tropical forest landscapes are comprised of diverse plant species that tolerate extreme conditions and nutrient-deficient soils, including endemic and culturally-significant species. With most (>90%) of land in Anguilla privately-owned and an emphasis on tourism development, high land conversion rates and indiscriminate clearing place Anguilla’s plant life at risk. This project seeks to increase Anguilla National Trust’s capacity to restore populations of the almost-extirpated culturally-important cocoplum Chrysobalanus icaco and the ecologically-significant endemic Anguilla bush Rondeletia anguillensis.
