Summary
Globally, invasive alien species (IAS) have reduced biodiversity, altered landscapes, and impacted ecosystem functions. In Anguilla, Key Biodiversity Areas have been restored through the removal of some of the most harmful IAS; maintaining these spaces as IAS-free is a priority. This project builds on international success of using trained conservation dogs to detect multiple IAS, creating a highly-trained conservation canine unit to be deployed to restored sites while enhancing Anguilla’s capacity to monitor and remove IAS and safeguard native biodiversity.
