WHERE SBAs of Akrotiri & Dhekelia (Cyprus)
Summary
The project aims to restore key wildlife habitats within the Cyprus SBAs, focusing on Akrotiri wetlands and native scrub on Cape Pyla (Dhekelia), while also developing eco-tourism opportunities to support the local economy and encourage wise use. On Cape Pyla, we focus on management to tackle invasive acacia and restore natural vegetation, while on
Akrotiri peninsula the focus is on sustainable reed-bed management, including through cattle grazing, and implementing an access management plan to tackle the disturbance threat for wildlife.
