Summary

Coral reefs are extremely valuable but also highly impacted essential biodiversity ecosystems. They provide coastal protection, food sources, tourism revenue and valuable oxygen to the atmosphere. Corals are being heavily impacted by climate change, disease and human activities/development. This project will establish a land-based coral micro-fragamentation nursery that will grow essential and critically impacted corals at highly accelerated growth rates. These corals will be reintroduced to Montserrat's coral reefs to strengthen those marine habitats.
