Summary
Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) continues to impact corals throughout the region. Through fundingfrom DPLR1, the UKOTs' and the region's first probiotic coral treatment facility was created and trials were conducted to identify viable treatments. This project will conduct the first in-situ treatment using probiotics to reduce the impact of SCTLD in the Caribbean, a treatment option found to be as effective as antibiotics. The project will also continue to trial viable treatments at the treatment facility.
Biodiversity monitoring efforts aimed at identifying the migration patterns of Endangered sea turtles highlight the urgent need for global conservation.
Invasive rodents preyed on ground-nesting birds in South Georgia, including burrowing petrels. Researchers making progress in monitoring their recovery.
