Summary

Mexican thorn is the most damaging invasive species on Ascension. Following outcomes from DPLUS134, the project will take an integrated approach to controlling thorn on Ascension by releasing the biocontrol agent, the Evippe sp. #1 moth to control and prevent the spread and further establishment of this invasive tree on Ascension Island. Building on successes, the project aims to (1) establish a viable population on island; (2) monitor its establishment, and (3) ensure long-term contraction of its range and restoration.
