Summary

St Helena’s grasslands are highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, particularly the rapid spread of invasive species. Impact of droughts have led to habitat loss, with invasive vegetation rendering the land undesirable for livestock and native wildlife. Improving pasture management on St Helena will enhance local livelihoods and grassland biodiversity, providing a win-win for the island’s people and wildlife. This will increase the range of vulnerable St Helena Plovers, provide invertebrate habitat and enhance livestock capacity and quality.
