WHERE Falkland Islands
Summary
Across the Falklands historical land-use and introduced rodents have caused habitat degradation, reduced biodiversity and created fragmented species distributions. The project delivers priority management actions on four offshore island reserves to reverse habitat loss and reintroduce endemic native species. Tussac planting will restore native
habitat and biodiversity, stabilise eroding peatland, and conserve ecological function. Novel reintroductions of threatened plants and two endemic bird species will maximise conservation benefit from previous rat eradications where extirpated species have not returned naturally post-eradication.
