Summary

The Pitcairn Islands are an environmental hotspot with a natural World Heritage Site and vast marine reserve. Introduced rodents are devastating two of the islands’ ecosystems and significantly impacting the community. This project will address outstanding questions around the feasibility of removing Pitcairn’s rodents and provide final technical inputs regarding Henderson. Continuous community consultation, pre-operational mapping and non-target species mitigation research will empower fully-informed local decisions to proceed with eradication delivery, potentially enabling the first rodent-free inhabited Overseas Territory.
