Summary
Ascension’s five critically endangered endemic plants face the dual threats of climate change and non-native species. Populations are in decline with some at serious risk of extinction. This project will undertake a thorough review of the successes and failures of past work. It will address knowledge gaps about the preferred growing conditions of plants and trial the best means to create suitable conditions and control non- native competitors. This will provide the evidence base for a new Endemic Plant Restoration Plan.
