Summary
This Project entails infrastructure enhancement for the propagation of endemics Epidendrum montserratense (Montserrat orchid) and Rondeletia buxifolia (Pribby) and native plants eg Guaiacum officinale (Lignum vitae) of Montserrat, whose population has declined due to pests, diseases and/or volcanic fallout. It includes the replacement of deteriorating shade structures and water harvesting/irrigation mechanisms with more climate resilient materials, to boost local plant production, fostering: (i) strategic partnering to implement biodiversity programmes, and; (ii) learning visits for school children, youth and conservationists.
