Summary

With two of five plant species at risk of extinction globally, plants are an under-represented taxa in terms of protection and conservation planning. In Anguilla, native plant species are threatened by natural habitatdisturbance, conversion, and invasive alien species. Applying PlantLife International’s criteria to assess if Dog Island qualifies as Anguilla’s first Important Plant Area (IPA), this project establishes a replicable framework necessary to support targeted action planning for long-term flora conservation across the Anguilla mainland and offshore cays.
