In January 2023, SFS partnered with local stakeholders to improve South Caicos reef health. Darwin funds will support the purchase of a dedicated vessel to access local coral nurseries established as part of this consortium for maintenance and community engagement. Operating around an already burdened SFS academic vessel schedule has proven difficult. A dedicated boat will allow greater flexibility and access to the nurseries as this program grows by both SFS students and community members.
