This project aims to improve environmental quality in coastal ecosystems on Ascension Island by reducing cigarette butt litter and undertaking targeted removal of plastic debris from remote beaches. This will be done by installing cigarette bins in key coastal areas in tandem with running an awareness campaign to encourage their use. Additionally, rucksacks and cutting implements will be purchased to facilitate removal of plastic debris that is being washed ashore from remote and difficult to access coastal areas.
